Hot Water Cylinders

Find out more about Hot Water Cylinders.

How much work is involved in changing a cylinder and do I need to change my boiler at the same time?

Usually a replacement cylinder will fit in the same space as the old one. Unless you have added to your hot water needs – perhaps more showers in the property or more people living in the property, in which case you may need a larger cylinder capacity. The cylinder will usually be taller, and possibly slightly larger diameter to meet current insulation requirements, so you may lose an airing cupboard shelf.

Generally, there is no need to change the boiler at the same time. However, if your boiler is more than ten years old a new one will certainly be more efficient and may be worth consideration.
